Man has always been concerned with the measurement of time which rules his life. Man has translated the elusive with paradoxically heavy and massive mechanisms. Conceived as a giant clockwork system whose gears are liberated of their terrestrial axes, the installation evokes the magic of passing time. It renders time intangible, reveals its’ infinite size, and restores its’ unreal power. The viewer experiences the dualities that bring them back to time: mechanical… Read More

Created for the Electroshoc Festival which features digital arts, this mechanical hanging garden revisits the relationship between man and society. Lionel has created an installation with ivy that opposes panels lit by a very cold blue tint. Green all year round, ivy represents the permanence of the vegetative force and the eternal cycle of death and rebirth. With this plant life seen through a blue light on a clinical psychedelic background, Lionel… Read More

Sound installation for the Biennial of Contemporary Art “Glass Pathway” is a sound installation in collaboration with Denys Vinzant. This is a golden railroad to Heavenly Machinery. The train is suspended at a height of… Read More

Cold Room

chambre froide

This installation invites viewers to snorkel in cold water and architecture. Visitors are lulled by the sound world while lying in a blue aquatic environment. Sounds of the forest, birds and water first stationary and then moving take the viewer on a rustic ride. Along the promenade, the trickle of water becomes a waterfall and then a swirl of water and ends in a large room with a very minimalist dripping sound…. Read More

Accoustic Attic

True transgenerational memory, a powerful symbol of the attic room in the house. This work refers to the time and past families who have filed their fragments of memory in the attic. Lionel’s accoustic attic consists of a wooden machinery that echoes the frame of an attic. Lionel’s mobiles are hypnotic machines either suspended in a vacuum, or placed on the ground, which evovle in the space of articulated arms. The viewer finds themselves dreaming in the face of these magic mechanisms and sequence of learned movements. One can spend hours watching these arms that tirelessly build and deconstruct virtual spheres, as one might look at the sea and its’ infinite waves, or fire and its’ dancing flames. Fascination… Read More
